The Secular Franciscan Order (OFS) Recollection day was held in Mount Rosary Church, Kallianpur Udupi today 26 February 2016 at Diocesan level on the occasion of year of Mercy.
His Lordship Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi was present for the entire curriculum officiated the Eucharistic Celebration and preached on the theme: St Francis of Assisi, the merciful face of Jesus.
During the mass 65 members received vestition and 11 made their profession.
Earlier Fr V. J. Menezes, OFM Cap. delivered Recollection talk on St Francis of Assisi and mercy, followed by the Sacrament of Reconciliation. 27 priests helped for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
The PRO of the Diocese Rev. Fr Denis D’Sa, Episcopal Vicar for the Religious Fr Roshan Menezes, OFM Cap, and Spiritual Assistants of the regions were present for the Eucharistic Celebration. Fr Manohar D’Souza OFM Cap, the Provincial Spiritual Assistant conducted the rite of vestition and profession.
Around 700 members of OFS were present for the recollection day. It started at 9.30 with Rosary of Mercy and concluded with the Eucharistic Celebration and lunch at 2 p.m.
The entire programme was organised by the OFS Diocesan Committee. There are 44 OFS fraternities in Udupi Diocese having 1200 members.
