Pakala-Belman, February 12, 2025 – A historic moment unfolded as Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese, laid the blessed foundation stone at the altar site of the new St. Antony Chapel, Pakala.
The day began with a Thanksgiving Mass at the old chapel, presided over by Bishop Gerald Lobo, along with Rev. Fr. Frederick Mascarenhas, Parish Priest, Belman; Rev. Fr. Arnold Mathias, Asst. Priest, Belman and two guest priests. The Bishop delivered a profound and inspiring homily, reflecting on faith and divine blessings.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, a solemn procession led the faithful to the site of the under-construction chapel. Bishop Lobo conducted a special prayer service, invoking God’s grace on the new place of worship, and laid the foundation stone in the presence of priests, the Vice President, Secretary, and Commission Coordinator of Belman Parish, along with parish pastoral council members, finance committee representatives, parishioners, and devotees.
The event marked a significant milestone in the faith journey of the community, symbolizing a new chapter for St. Antony Chapel as a beacon of prayer and devotion.
