Udupi, February 14, 2025 – An orientation program on the Diocesan Pastoral Plan 2030, Catholic Connect App, and the World of AI was held at Anugraha Pastoral Centre, Udupi, for the Parish Coordinators and Media Mentors of the Diocese of Udupi. The session, attended by 42 coordinators, combined insightful discussions with hands-on learning experiences.
The program began with an audio-visual prayer song, invoking the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Since the session coincided with the Feast of St. Valentine, reflections on God’s love through Jesus Christ set a meaningful tone. Rev. Fr Denis D’Sa, Director of the Commission for Social Communications, Udupi Diocese, welcomed the dignitaries, including Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi, along with resource persons, deanery directors, and media mentors.
Bishop Gerald Lobo provided an overview of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan 2030, detailing its mission, vision, objectives, key performance indicators, and implementation strategies for the Commission for Social Communications. He reassured coordinators that they need not feel overwhelmed but should focus on gradual, impactful implementation.
Rev. Fr Anil Fernandes, Director of Canara Communications Centre, Mangalore, led an interactive session on the Catholic Connect App, demonstrating its features for connecting with the Church at national, regional, diocesan, and parish levels. Participants actively engaged in installing and exploring the app’s functionalities.
Fr Anil Fernandes introduced the World of Artificial Intelligence (AI), emphasizing its growing relevance in the digital era. He highlighted how AI, if used prudently, can serve as an effective tool for catechesis and evangelization, urging participants to embrace AI to enhance their ministry.
A Q&A session allowed participants to seek clarifications and share insights. Fr Denis D’Sa extended a vote of thanks, appreciating the Bishop, speakers, and attendees for their contributions.
This dynamic orientation program empowered Parish Coordinators and Media Mentors with cutting-edge tools and knowledge, equipping them to strengthen communication and evangelization in the Diocese of Udupi.
