Uniting hearts and faith, the Diocese-Level Ecumenical Spiritual Enrichment Programme at Stella Maris Church in Kalmadi on Thursday, April 3, 2025, was a transformative journey of spiritual revival. Under the inspiring theme A Day with the Lord, the half-day event brought together a diverse assembly of priests, religious sisters, and pastors from the Udupi Diocese, the Church of South India (CSI), and the United Basel Mission, creating a vibrant tapestry of shared devotion.

The presence of Rt. Rev. Bishop Hemachandra Kumar of CSI-KSD and Most Rev. Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo of the Udupi Diocese elevated the occasion, as both leaders actively engaged in a day of deep reflection and communal prayer. Rev. Fr Franklin D’Souza, ICYM Director of the Shivamogga Diocese, delivered a stirring message that emphasized the three essential pillars of Christian life: remaining rooted in Christ through ceaseless prayer (Abide in Me), manifesting Christ’s love in everyday interactions (Abide in My Love), and strengthening one’s spirit through scripture and devoted obedience (Abide in My Word). His words resonated deeply with the audience, reinforcing the transformative power of personal and communal prayer.

Following this, Rt. Rev. Hemachandra Kumar captivated the gathering by reminding everyone that the true essence of Christianity is not merely in wearing a cross, but in courageously carrying it—embracing the sacrifices and challenges that forge a life rich in spiritual fruit. The entire programme was seamlessly orchestrated by Fr. Leo Praveen D’Souza, Director of the Commission for Ecumenism, while Fr. Baptist Menezes extended a warm welcome to all, setting a tone of unity and fellowship. The soulful hymns of the Kalmadi Church choir further enriched the atmosphere, leading the congregation into a state of heartfelt praise and worship.

The day concluded with a joyful fellowship meal, where approximately 45 priests, pastors, and religious sisters shared meaningful conversations, reflections, and strengthened their bonds of unity. The Ecumenical Spiritual Enrichment Programme stood as a powerful reminder of the importance of spiritual renewal and interdenominational unity, calling all who attended to deepen their connection with Christ and with each other.
