It was a joyful event for the parishioners of Mount Rosary Church Santhekatte when their shepherd the Bishop of Udupi, Rt. Rev. Dr. Gerald Lobo visited them from 22nd to 24th February, 2020. Rev. Fr Leslie D’Souza, the Parish Priest; Rev. Fr Antony Clany D’Souza and the parishioners extended a warm welcome to him on 22nd evening. The preliminary rites in the Church were followed by a visit to the cemetery.
The Bishop had a session on Catechism for the Confirmation children. This was followed by his meeting with Parish Pastoral council and Finance Committee.
On 23rd February, the Confirmation Mass was celebrated with great joy. 46 children were administered the Sacrament of Confirmation. In his homily during the Mass, the bishop preached on the importance of family life.
After the Mass, the Bishop had meetings with several groups, viz. Missionary Children; Altar Boys; Sthree Sanghatan; Catholic Sabha; YCS; ICYM; Secular Franciscan Order; SVP and Catechism Teachers. He attended the S.C.C. meeting in a ward. He also visited the Carmel Krupa Convent for Adoration, Rosary and Prayer and thereafter interacted with Sisters.
On 24th the Bishop celebrated Mass at Goretti Convent and thereafter interacted with Sisters.He spent time with the Sick in the parish. Bishop visited Mount Rosary English Medium School during assembly and addressed the students. Later, he met the school teachers. In the afternoon bishop visited Carmel Niwas Convent. The Pastoral visit concluded on 24th Monday with a Prayer Service, after which the Bishop returned to the Bishop’s House.
