Udupi, February 9, 2025 – The air was filled with pride and joy as Divya Jyothi, the Diocesan Biblical and Catechetical Commission, honoured 42 top scorers of the Diocesan Level Catechism Exam at a grand felicitation ceremony. The event recognized the dedication and hard work of young minds who excelled in the final exam conducted on January 4, 2025.

The prestigious event was graced by Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi, who led the celebrations alongside an esteemed panel of dignitaries, including Rev. Fr. Vincent Crasta, Secretary of CESU, Mr. John Baptist Cornelio, Mrs. Philomena Cornelio, Sr. Maria Dsa AC, Jeneviev Marina Miranda, Rev. Fr. Cyril Lobo, and Viola Sanli Tellis. 

The programme commenced with a soul-stirring prayer dance performed by the talented students of Mount Rosary High School. This was followed by heartfelt testimonials from three students who shared their ten-year journey of studying Catechism, reflecting on how it shaped their faith and character.

Adding to the momentous occasion, a special Lifetime Service Award was presented to Sr. Maria Dsa AC and Jeneviev Marina Miranda, honouring their remarkable 50 years of dedicated service as Catechism teachers. Their unwavering commitment has inspired generations of students to deepen their understanding of the Word of God. 

Moreover, Mr. and Mrs. Cornelio were felicitated for their selfless contributions to the Diocese of Udupi, a testament to their enduring support in nurturing faith within the community.

Beyond the top 42 scorers, the Diocese also recognized 43 primary school children for their enthusiastic participation in the Bible Storytelling Programme. Their love for storytelling and sharing biblical teachings with passion left a lasting impression on the audience.

Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo lauded the students for their achievements, urging them to continue their faith-filled journey with the same enthusiasm and devotion. He emphasized the importance of Catechism as a guiding light, helping young Catholics grow in their spiritual lives and become beacons of faith in society.

The flawless execution of the event was credited to the dynamic coordination of Miss Ashini and Serah, whose meticulous planning ensured a seamless and heartwarming celebration. Parents watched with immense pride as their children received accolades from the Bishop, making the evening a cherished memory for all in attendance.

The event concluded with a renewed sense of commitment among the young achievers, reaffirming their love for the Church and the Word of God. As the curtains fell on this inspiring evening, it was evident that the future of the Udupi Diocese is in the hands of faith-driven, enthusiastic, and dedicated young minds.
