The Post Centenary Silver Jubilee of St Joseph’s Church, Belman was celebrated with great joy, fervour and devotion on 01st May 2019.
The Solemn Eucharist was celebrated by Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo Bishop of Udupi along with V. Rev. Fr Stany B. Lobo, Chancellor of Udupi Diocese; Rev. Fr Denis D’Sa, Dean of Shirva Denery, Rev. Fr Stany Tauro, Dean of Kundapur Deanery; . Fr Lawrence C. D’Souza, Dean of Kallianpur Deanery; Rev. Fr Edwin D’Souza, Parish Priest of Belman; Rev. Fr Prakash Menezes, Asst. Parish Priest of Belman; a number of priests from Udupi and Mangalore Dioceses, Religious men, women and the parishioners and guests.
After the mass stage programme was held at which Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi; Rt. Rev. Msgr. Fr Baptist Menezes, Vicar general of Udupi Diocese; V. Rev. Fr Denis D’Sa, Dean of Shirva Deanery, Mr Sunil Kumar, Opposition Chief Whip & MLA of Karkal Constituency; Rev. Sr Metilda Monteiro, Provincial Superior of Sisters of Charity, Mangalore Province; Rev. Fr Edwin D’Souza; Mrs.Reshma Udaya Shetty, Mrs Asha Devendra Shetty, Mrs.Varija Salian, Rev. Fr Prakash Menezes, Mr Alwyn Ageira, Mr Faustine D’Souza, Mr George Menezes, Mr Dominic Andrade and others were present.
Mr Faustine D’Souza read a brief report of the parish. Msgr. Baptist Menezes, V. Rev. Fr Denis D’Sa and Rev. Sr Metilda Monteiro addressed the gathering on the occasion.
Post centenary silver jubilee celebrations souvenir was released by Bishop Dr Gerald Lobo.
Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, in his presidential address said, “During jubilee celebrations, projects of nearly Rupees three Crore have been implemented. On this occasion, let us remember the pastoral mission, we all must join hands to execute work in our parish. No one should be needy here, and finally let us build the community with love, prayer, and service. Seeing this, others must follow us in the coming day. Since last five days, with the help and support of parishioners, under the leadership of the parish priest, assistant priest and committee members, all events went on smoothly and all the credit goes to you.”
Former Parish Priests, Sponsors, Donors, former Vice presidents and Secretary, Asst. Parish Priests and Gurkars were felicitated.
Mr AlwynAgeira welcomed the gathering and Mr Gregory Menezes proposed the vote of thanks. Mr Dominic Andrade and Mrs Hilda Sequeira compeered the programme. Fellowship meals were served to all those who attended the programme.
