The Bishop of Udupi Most Rev. Gerald Lobo recently concluded a series of training programs on the Pastoral Plan of Udupi diocese – Mission 2025.
Pastoral Plan-Mission 2025 is the roadmap for the diocese for the next 10 years. It was prepared after much consultation and study. In his effort to disseminate the contents of this document to people of every parish in the diocese, the Bishop personally embarked on a visit to every parish along with a team of speakers. Within two months, the bishop successfully completed meeting the people of all 50 parishes in the three taluks of Udupi district and explaining them the contents of the Plan. It included planning and drawing up a plan of action too.
Along with the people of 50 parishes, the members of the parish pastoral councils, parish finance councils and deanery pastoral councils too were instructed. In a separate session the Religious priests and Sisters were imparted the contents of the Pastoral Plan-Mission 2025.
This is an ambitious plan which envisages a spiritually, socially, economically strong Udupi diocese by 2025. The bishop was happy to see the overwhelming enthusiasm of the people. Mr Alphonse D’Costa and Mr Leslie Arouza assisted the bishop in his itinerary.
An abridged version of the Pastoral Plan in Konkani language has distributed to people to grasp the contents of the Plan. Now the parish pastoral councils are actively engaged in drawing up their action plan basing on the Pastoral Plan 2025.
