Udupi/Moodubelle, 11th December 2024: St. Lawrence English Medium School, Moodubelle, celebrated its Silver Jubilee on 10th December 2024 with great enthusiasm. The event kicked off with a procession of dignitaries, teachers, and students, accompanied by the beats of ‘Chende,’ leading to the St. Lawrence PU College Quadrangle, where the celebration took place.
The program began with a prayer song and welcome dance, followed by speeches and felicitation ceremonies. Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese, presided over the event, while Rev. Fr. Vincent Crasta, Secretary of CESU, was the chief guest. Other dignitaries included Rev. Fr. Charles Lewis, the founder correspondent, Br. Philip Noronha, the current principal, and Mrs. Divya Acharya, among others.
The celebration honored former correspondents, principals, senior teachers, and donors who played key roles in the school’s development. Commodore Jerome Castelino and Mrs. Juliana Noronha shared their insights on the school’s growth and future, with a suggestion to switch to the CBSE curriculum for better opportunities. The chief guest, Rev. Fr. Vincent Crasta, emphasized the importance of education in shaping students’ character and success.
Alumni Adv. Clive Quadros, Dr. Divita Lobo, and Glen Rebello were also recognized for their achievements in law, medicine, and technology. Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo praised the school’s journey, acknowledging the contributions of all involved, and encouraged students and alumni to use their education for societal betterment.
The event concluded with a cultural program featuring dances, skits, and Yakshagana performances, showcasing the talents of the students. This Silver Jubilee celebration highlighted the school’s 25 years of excellence in education and its commitment to shaping the future of its students.
