The event was officially inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by Bishop Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, along with the distinguished guests on the dais. In his address, Bishop Lobo emphasized the need for strengthening organizations at the grassroots level across every diocese. He commended the state-level federation for its efforts and extended congratulations to all its members. He urged that these organizations evolve into strong entities that can access government benefits and services, ensuring their rightful place in society. Bishop Lobo also highlighted the importance of expanding self-help groups at the taluk and district levels to foster greater unity and strength. His message underscored the importance of a deeper understanding of human rights and the constitution, encouraging everyone to share this knowledge for the greater good of the community.
Advocate Junia Monalisa Barboza, the resource person for the day, delivered an insightful presentation on Human Rights and the Constitution of India. She elaborated on the various facets of women’s rights, focusing particularly on the pervasive issue of women’s harassment at all levels. Her words resonated deeply with the attendees, offering valuable knowledge and practical insights on how to address these challenges.
The gathering was welcomed by Mrs. Ganga Kulal, Badravathi and the vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Geetha from Chakkodi, Belagavi. The program was efficiently compared by Mrs. Janet Barboza, the Resource Mobilization Officer of the Manini State-Level Women's Federation, who ensured the smooth flow of the event.
The event saw an active participation of 19 members from 14 dioceses across the state, demonstrating the strong presence and commitment of Manini to advancing women’s rights and human dignity. This celebration of Human Rights Day was a reminder of the collective efforts required to uphold the rights of women and marginalized communities and to create a society where justice and equality are the norms.
