Most Rev. Dr Gerald Lobo, Bishop of Udupi, conducted his Pastoral Visit to Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, from the 14th to the 16th of September, 2024. Rev. Fr (Dr) Roque D’Souza, Parish Priest of Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, and Rev. Fr Oliver Nazareth CSC, Assistant Priest, along with the parishioners, extended a warm welcome to the Bishop.
After the preliminary rites, the Bishop visited the cemetery and conducted a prayer service. He also held catechism on the Sacrament of Confirmation for the 56 candidates of the parish who were to receive the Sacrament. Following this, he interacted with the members of the Parish Finance Committee.
On the 15th of September, the Holy Eucharist was celebrated with great joy, and 56 children were conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation. In his homily, the Bishop emphasized the importance of prayer and how to pray with the Lord.
After the Mass, the Bishop had a series of meetings with several groups, including the Altar Boys, Girls' Sodality, Missionary Children, Choir members, SFO (Secular Franciscan Order), SVP (Society of St. Vincent de Paul), Sthree Sanghatan, Catholic Sabha, ICYM (Indian Catholic Youth Movement), YCS (Young Christian Students), the Parish Pastoral Council, and the Pastoral Commissions’ animators. In the afternoon, the Bishop attended a Small Christian Community meeting in one of the wards.
On the morning of the 16th, the Bishop celebrated the Holy Eucharist at Goretti Convent, Santhekatte. After the Mass, he visited the sick of the parish. The Pastoral Visit concluded on Monday, the 16th, with a prayer service.
