Most Rev. Dr Gerald Lobo, Bishop of Udupi, conducted his Pastoral Visit to Sacred Heart Church, Yermal, from the 8th to the 9th of June, 2024. Rev. Fr Joswey Fernandes, Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church, Yermal, along with the parishioners, extended a warm welcome to the Bishop.
After the preliminary rites, the Bishop visited the cemetery and conducted a prayer service. He also conducted catechism on the Sacrament of Confirmation for the nine candidates of the parish who were to receive the Sacrament. Then, he interacted with the ICYM and YCS Youths.
On the 9th of June, the Holy Eucharist was celebrated with great joy, and nine children were conferred with the Sacrament of Confirmation. In his homily, the Bishop emphasized the Jubilee 2025.
After the Mass, the Bishop had a series of meetings with several groups, including the SFO, SVP, Sthree Sanghatan, Catholic Sabha, and Parish Pastoral Council and Pastoral Commissions' animators. In the afternoon, the Bishop visited the sick of the parish. After that, the Bishop attended the Basic Ecclesial Community meeting in one of the wards. The Pastoral Visit concluded on Sunday, the 9th, with a prayer service.
