Most Rev. Dr Gerald Lobo, Bishop of Udupi, conducted his Pastoral Visit to Our Lady of Fatima Church, Perampally from the 20th to the 22nd of April, 2024. Rev. Fr Anil D’Souza, Parish Priest of Perampally church; V. Rev. Fr Roshan Menezes OFMCap, Episcopal Vicar for Religious; Rev. Fr Antony, Resident Priest of Perampally Church; Rev. Fr Dominic OFMCap, Principal of Trinity Central School, Perampally; and Rev. Fr Ravi OFMCap, Trinity Vihar Perampally, along with the parishioners, extended a warm welcome to the Bishop.
After the preliminary rites, the Bishop visited the cemetery and conducted a prayer service. The Bishop also conducted Catechism on the Sacrament of Confirmation for the 37 candidates of the parish who were to receive the Sacrament. Then, he interacted with the Parish finance committee members.
On the 21st of April, the Holy Eucharist was celebrated with great joy, and 37 children were conferred with the Sacrament of Confirmation. In his homily, the Bishop emphasized the importance of Jubilee year 2025.
After the Mass, the Bishop had a series of meetings with several groups, including the Missionary Children’s Association, Altar Boys, ICYM, YCS, Catholic Sabha, SFO, Legion of Mary, SVP, and Sthree Sanghatan. In the afternoon, the Bishop had a meeting with the members of the Parish Pastoral Council and Pastoral Commissions’ animators. He also attended the Small Christian Community meeting in one of the wards.
On the 22nd morning, the Bishop celebrated the Holy Eucharist at St. Agnes Convent and Senior Citizens Home Perampally. After the Mass, the Bishop interacted with elderly persons and sisters. Later, he visited the sick and paid a visit to Trinity Vihar Perampally. The Pastoral Visit concluded on Monday, the 22nd, with a Prayer Service.
