Kallianpur: October 22: the Family Life Center (JIVIT) of the Udupi Diocese organized the Kallianpur Deanery level Married Couples’ Day at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur on Thursday, 22nd October, 2015.
The memorable day began with a procession of the married couples from Milagres Tri-centenary Hall to Milagres Cathedral with melodious tune of the brass band. Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo the Bishops of the Diocese of Udupi Celebrated the Holy Eucharist along with V.Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo, the Rector of Cathedral, Rev Fr. Henry Mascarenhas, Estate Manager of Udupi Diocese, Rev Fr. Fredrick D’Souza, Parish Priest of Thottam, Rev Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Parish Priest of Kemmannu Church and Rev Fr. Denis Lobo, Director of Pilar Fathers’ Home in Kallianpur.
In his homily Bishop said that it is a pleasant seen to see the married couples back again around the table of the Lord, to thank Him for all the blessings that they have received in their journey of married life and to renew their vows so that they can rededicate and re-consecrate themselves to their sacred vocation. He highlighted the following three points: 1) God created the world and the Family. 2) The unity and indissolubility of marriage is again the design of God. 3) the role model for all the couples is Jesus the Bridegroom and Church his bride. Just as Jesus loved the church and emptied himself for his bride the Church, every couple should emulate Jesus in their married life.
After the Mass, a felicitation program was organized for the 140 plus married couples of the Kallianpur Deanery. The oldest and the youngest married couples were the chief guests. Bishop Gerald presided over. V. Rev. Fr. Stany Lobo raised the toast and Rev Fr. Denis D’Sa delivered a small lecture on the present day challenges for love and fidelity and as to how the couple can face those challenges.
Various spot games were conducted for the married couples by the M.C. Mr Roshan Sequeira and prizes were distributed to the winners by Fr. Stany B, Lobo. Mr Leslie Aroza, the director of Family Commission proposed the vote of thanks. The program ended with a sumptuous lunch hosted in honour of the married couples.
