The Bishop of Udupi, Rt. Rev. Dr. Gerald Lobo visited St John the Evangelist Church Pangla from 21st to 23rd May, 2022. Rev. Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, Parish Priest of Pangla Parish: Rev. Fr Anil Pinto, Asst. Parish Priest: Rev. Fr Vijay D’Souza and the parishioners extended a warm welcome to him on 21st evening.
After the preliminary rites the Bishop visited the cemetery for prayer service. The Bishop had a session on Catechism for the Confirmation children. Then the Bishop had meetings with Parish Pastoral Council with 20 commissions’ animators and finance committee members.
On 22nd May, the Confirmation Mass was celebrated with great joy. 76 children were administered the Sacrament of Confirmation. In his homily during the Mass, the bishop preached on the importance of family life.
After the Mass, the Bishop had meetings with several groups, viz. Altar Boys; Sthree Sanghatan; ICYM; YCS; Catholic Sabha; SFO; Legion of Mary, SVP and Parish Pastoral council. He also attended the Small Christian Community meeting in one of the wards at Pangla. He also visited the Milagres House.
On 23rd morning the Bishop celebrated mass at Sacred Heart convent. After the mass, the bishop met the staff of St Johns’ school and college. The Pastoral Visit concluded on Monday 23rd with a Prayer Service.
