The funeral rites of Rev. Fr Lawrence D’Souza, Parish Priest of Kalathur, took place at Kalathur Church on 19th May, 2022.
Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese was the main celebrant. V. Rev. Fr Stany B. Lobo, Chancellor; V. Rev. Fr Roshan Menezes, Episcopal Vicar for Religious of Udupi Diocese; V. Rev. Fr Denis D’Sa, Vicar Forene of Shirva Deanery and Parish Priest of Shirva Parish; Diocesan and Religious Priests of Udupi and Mangaluru Diocese were present. Rev. Fr Fredrick Mascarenhas, Parish Priest of Padukone Parish preached the homily.
A condolence meet held after the Mass. On behalf of Udupi Diocese, Rev. Fr Reginald Pinto, Director Sampada, delivered the condolence speech. In his speech, he recalled the friendly nature and leadership qualities of Rev. Fr Lawrence, which was widely accepted by the priests and the lay people of Udupi Diocese. He also recalled Rev. Fr Lawrence’s selfless service, his commitment and his generosity. “His administrative skills and religious life is a role model for the community. Rev. Fr Lawrence’s unexpected demise is a great loss to his family, Udupi Diocese and to the entire society”, he added.
On behalf of Kalathur parishioners, Mr. Mathias Tauro, vice-president of Kalathur Parish Pastoral Council, paid tribute to Rev. Fr Lawrence D’Souza.
