It was a joyful occasion for the parishioners of Christ Church, Manipal when their Bishop of Udupi, Rt. Rev. Dr. Gerald Lobo visited them from 27th to 28th November, 2021. Rev. Fr Fredrick D’Souza, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Rolwin Fernandes, Asst. Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Antony, Resident Priest and the parishioners extended a warm welcome to him on 27th evening.
The Bishop had a session on Catechism for the Confirmation children. After the Catechism the Bishop celebrated the holy Eucharist along with Rev. Fr Fredrick D’Souza, Rev. Fr Rolwin Fernandes and Rev. Fr Antony. After the Mass, the Bishop had meetings with Finance Committee members.
On 28th November, The Confirmation Mass was celebrated with great joy. 29 children were administered the Sacrament of Confirmation. In his homily during the Mass, Rev. Fr Chetan Lobo preached on advent and the Holy Spirit. Rev. Fr Fredrick D’Souza, Rev. Fr Rolwin Fernandes, Rev. Fr Chetan Lobo, PRO of Udupi Diocese and Rev. Fr Antony concelebrated with bishop.
After the Mass, the Bishop had meetings with several groups, viz. Altar Boys; Sthree Sanghatan; Catholic Sabha; SFO; Legion of Mary; SVP, ICYM and Parish Pastoral council of Manipal. He visitedCluny Convent. The Pastoral Visit concluded on Sunday 28th with a Prayer Service, after which the Bishop returned to the Bishop’s House.
